"Even the argument that ‘the presence of a penis would trigger the women’ is flawed because it neglects the fact that white skin is just as much a reminder of violence as a penis"

Food is good and all that but YOU REALLY FUCKING NEED WATER. I always drink one glass of water before each meal and another glass right after. Shit, that’s almost all the water you need in a day.
Feeling tired? Got a headache? Nauseous? Fuck those Rx commercials with their crazy ass side effects, drinking more water is the cheapest way to feel better. I drink mine straight but if you’re fancy as fuck then toss in some lemon, mint leaves, lime, cucumber, lemongrass. I don’t give a good goddamn, JUST DRINK IT.

“I’m tired of the manipulation,” said Michael Jackson, who was reluctant to allow the media to tape his brief remarks. “The press has manipulated the truth. They’re liars. History books are a lie. You need to know this, you must know this, that all forms of popular music, from jazz to rock to hip-hop, and dance, from the jitterbug to the Charleston, are black. But go down to the corner bookstore, and you won’t see one black person on a cover. You’ll see Elvis Presley. You’ll see the Rolling Stones. But where are the real pioneers?”
Citing Otis Blackwell [pictured] as one such pioneer deserving of larger recognition, Jackson said that there was something terribly amiss in a system that would find Blackwell dying penniless despite having penned such classics as “Don’t Be Cruel,” “All Shook Up” and “Great Balls of Fire.” “They didn’t write one book about him that I know of, and I’ve searched the world over,” Jackson said. “And he was a prolific, phenomenal writer.”

he was tired…because he was in touch with the truth. and this world is a hell for those who cannot turn from the truth. it was the one thing that helped me say goodbye to him, too soon. he was tired. this world is wicked, and he was stained by it, and tired. he is at rest, now. and no longer frustrated. and immortal. he made sure of that. there is no way his music can be lifted from his stamp. he became too large to be forgotten. RIP MJ

okay and just to proe nezua’s point i went looking for a source for this and this bullshit ass article on MTV.com is what i found and i can’t stomach to go through why it’s so vile and racist but this excerpt that proceeds the above quote is all that needs to be read:
“Trying to take the focus off of himself and his accusations that Sony failed to promote his last album, Invincible, Jackson addressed criticism that his alliance with Sharpton was born out of self-interest and not out of a genuine interest in the plight of black artists and civil rights. (What do you think of Jackson’s claims? Take our poll.) Saying that the record industry system was corrupt, Jackson again spoke of a conspiracy that not only keeps black artists down but also co-opts their music and dance forms.
“I’m tired of the manipulation,” said Jackson, who would not allow the media to tape his brief remarks….”
like well no fucking wonder he was reluctant to let y’all tape his remarks! MTV is literally sitting here and calling decades of well-documented evidence that support what Michael is saying a conspiracy theory. like “here come the crazy nigger acting up again talking all crazy-like about how racism has divested black people of their own music, the fucking loon……” as IF that wasn’t a well known fact!
i don’t know why i’m shocked but just the audacity…….

I’ve created these flyers for a school activist project where I bring more attention to the women in history that have been forgotten or ignored. This blog will be an extension of those flyers where I post longer biographies of these women and other bad-ass women like them. Too often women’s achievements have been pushed aside, either by others in their lives, or else by the historians who choose to ignore them. This tumblr is dedicated to celebrating them and bringing their achievements to light!

Read this Village Voice cover story this morning and got my life + became a fan. Specifically here:
“Quattlebaum says he hates … the field of queer studies along with it. ‘I have a lot of problems with the academic queer community because it’s a community that exists completely removed from reality,’ he says. ‘Those kids who are selling their bodies on the West Side Highway, on Christopher Street, they don’t even know what the fuck queer theory is.’”
Hence our need to be rooted in grassroots, in the streets, in solidarity with those who are “marginalized.” I’m done with folks and organizations speaking our names and bodies in theory, in death, in stats. Yet ignoring the same folks they discuss in theory without ever knowing us, without ever trying to engage, without ever “outreaching,” without ever lending the stage and resources to us.
As a trans woman of color - no matter what space I enter - I have one stilletoed foot on the street. Always.

Janet Mock is a Mykki Blanco fan we live in a beautiful world okay <3
